MARIANA PERDOMO BIOGRAPHY

Mariana Perdomo

Singer, performer, and singer-songwriter born in the Province of Buenos Aires, in the locality of General San Martín.

She grew up listening to the music her parents listened to, with her main influences being artists such as Joan Manuel Serrat, Ana Belén, José Luis Perales, Juan Luis Guerra, Silvio Rodríguez, Pablo Milanés, Gloria Estefan, Ana Gabriel, and Ricardo Montaner. She also draws inspiration from national artists and bands such as Virus, Soda Stereo, Serú Girán, Los Rodríguez, León Gieco, Jorge Cafrune, and Víctor Heredia.

She began singing as a child, in the parish of her neighborhood. She recalls that even before she could speak well, she was already singing.

Before turning 10, she participated as a solo singer in a diocesan-level competition representing the parish she attended and won first place, marking her first performance in front of an audience. There, she discovered her passion, and from then on, she participated in all singing-related activities available to her, including joining the school choir and participating in both municipal and school events (both in primary and secondary school).

During her adolescence, she received proposals to become a vocalist for Cumbia bands, but fear of entering an environment she considered dangerous led her to reject them.

She continued taking singing lessons and dedicated herself to singing amateurishly with musicians related to folk and chamamé until 2005 when she made the decision to pursue a university career and distance herself from music, believing she couldn’t sustain herself as a musical artist, putting her dream of becoming a singer on hold for the ‘Day of Tomorrow’. Meanwhile, she wrote songs, thinking she would sing them someday.

In 2020, after becoming a mother and amidst the pandemic, she realizes that the ‘Day of Tomorrow’ has arrived and decides to return to music, this time professionally.

She resumes singing lessons and decides to prepare those songs that marked her childhood to record them on an album that would be the artistic legacy she would leave for her son, who greatly enjoys listening to her sing.

Later on, she meets Pablo Figueroa, who not only accompanies her with his guitar in selecting the repertoire and preparing the songs but also becomes the guitarist and musical producer of her album. He is the one who arranges each song and contacts, gathers, and directs the band of renowned musicians who accompany Mariana in the recording of her album.

“Genesis” is the name of Mariana Perdomo’s first album, consisting of a collection of songs that represent her musical origins, her roots, and her influences. It was recorded at the prestigious “Fort Music” studios, and for recording, editing, mixing, and mastering, she relied on the award-winning sound technician Norberto Villagra.

The album “Genesis” also represents her first project as a record producer, successfully completing this milestone in March 2023.
